It is vitally important that your vessel is safe, structurally sound, suited to her intended use and satisfies the requirements of the appropriate statutory regulations.

Contact us to discuss your vessel and requirements whether it's your first leisure boat or an addition to your commercial fleet.  When spending a significant amount of money a survey gives you peace of mind.

We carry full professional indemnity insurance.

Insurers usually request a survey on vessels over fifteen to twenty years old, sometimes younger, to establish whether they are in a safe and reliable condition together with offering you the peace of mind to use your boat with confidence.  In most cases they require an out of the water survey, concentrating on hull condition and the structural integrity of the vessel.

During the inspection key areas of the vessel will be assessed: the underwater section of the hull, stern gear arrangements, topsides, engines, rigging, gas/water/electrical systems, safety aspects and equipment. The overall condition of the vessel and accommodation will also be inspected and any relevant comments and recommendations made.  A current assessment of the market value will be given if required.

Insurance Condition and Valuation Survey

It is always advisable to commission a survey prior to the purchase of any vessel, new or used.  A Pre-Purchase Survey generally follows the format of the above Insurance Survey.

The surveyor will examine all visible and accessible parts of the vessel and its equipment, it is advisable to arrange to have the vessel lifted ashore for the inspection.  A sea trial may also be undertaken if required.

Rob is always available to discuss your report, and will clarify any area of the report on request.

Small commercial vessel Code of Practice Survey

Small vessels operating commercially under the British flag or in British waters must comply with merchant shipping regulations or an MCA code of practice. There are  various codes for small vessels (up to 24m) which carry cargo and/or passengers at sea, or provide a service in which neither cargo or passengers are carried.

Rob carries out MCA Code of Practice compliance surveys through MECAL and the MCA certifying authority.  We can offer advice on the Code of Practice and which of its special categories relate to your commercial operation and carry full indemnity insurance.
